Spring Broke: Marissa Statement Necklace (^^,)

Since I can't have every trend that screams Spring 2013, I just decided to make a statement necklace, which is one of the staples of Spring 2013. I was experimenting too so I didn't use pastels. Instead I used gold, so it can be worn with different outfits.

This is a "Gift Princess original design". I just had inspirations from looking at various photos from different shopping websites then I conjured up my own design. This was tedious though for I have to use eyepins then open the ends to join a chain. I haven't found a technique yet to make myself comfortable but its a start. Took me days to finish this because I have to put every bead into each own eyepin before I can start the connecting process. The first layer has 50 Czech glass beads (as you can see in the photo), then 2nd layer has 40 and I decided to stop and just added dangling chains instead. I was happy with it! At first I wanted to make three layers but its really time consuming plus I don't want it so long. If it can cover my neck frame, then I'm happy with it!

If you decided to make this please share a photo on instagram and hashtag #giftdiy or email me. You can share these photos as long as you link back to me.

I've started making DIY videos/posts, if want to check them out, refer to the list below:

Jewelry Sale: Deirdre Bracelet

I made another design for a bracelet! Yay! I named this Deirdre in honor of Deirdre Shannon in the Nancy Drew games from HerInteractive. If you are a Nancy Drew fan like me, you know that Deirdre has a crush on Ned Nickerson, Nancy Drew's boyfriend. I just pictured her wearing this to gain attention from Ned and so I named this beauty after her. Also her name is very unique! :)

Gold chain. Square crystal bead. Gold magnetic clasps for easy closure. Only $10 each, while supplies last. Three pieces will be $25! :)

For more info & to order, email me at giftprincessgoden07 (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject "Arm candy jewelry" and name of bracelet.

BH Cosmetics Blush and Brush

This is a quickie review of how I love my BH Cosmetics first purchase. Actually, with all the many sales and deals they have, I don't really know which one to go for while staying  with my budget. Last Valentine's they had a deal for only $18 for both the 12pcs Berry Brush set and the 10 Color Blush Palette. With the shipping added, it only cost me $25.

I recommend subscribing to BH Cosmetics because they send deals almost everyday. The deals are awesome especially when it comes to brushes and palettes. I for one just wants everything on one place so the blush palette was a good deal for me. Now I don't have to buy a lot of blush! Their blushes are well pigmented. You can use everything there for artsy makeup or soft neutral looks.

Their brushes are soft too with minimal shedding. Plus it comes with a neat clutch perfect for me when I travel. :) You will see the brushes on my makeup videos because I absolutely love using them.

So yes, I'm gonna watch for another great deal. Maybe eyeshadow palette plus lip palette! So looking forward for that. :)

DIY: Feather Clutch

I got my inspiration from Angela of runwaydonemyway's of an ostrich feather purse. I decided to try out for myself a more cheaper one and just for the sake of trying it out before I do the ostrich feathers. My total cost was only $7.90 because I already have some of the  other materials such as the scissors, alcohol, cotton balls, etc. :) Next time, I will be making the ostrich feather purse! So watch for it. :)

What you will need:
1. Clutch (I got mine for $0.25 in a thrift store. You can use your old clutch/purse)
2. Feathers (Mine is from Wal-mart in the kid's craft section)
3. Embellishment (Ribbons, lace trim, rhinestones, metal applique & just about anything under the sun! :) )
4. Craft glue/Hot glue gun (I used Tacky glue, only $0.97)
5. Scissors
6. Optional: Alcohol or acetone (For cleaning the surface of the bag we are gonna work on)

1. Pre-wash the inside of the fabric. You gotta do this now or else it will be difficult once the feathers are all in. And yes I like everything clean before I start.
2.  Optional: Cut the sewed brand tag inside. Its just my own preference, you can leave yours there.
3. Lightly wipe the surface of bag with alcohol or acetone.
4. Lay out your design. (I forgot number 4 in the video. :P)
5. I started gluing my embellishment first since I am just using sequined ribbons. If you are using appliques, do it later after all the feathers are glued.
6. Use glue liberally then lay measured ribbon. Apply a little bit of pressure.
7.  Start gluing feathers from bottom to top. Apply glue liberally as well.
8. Fill in gaps with feathers as needed. If you want it fluffier, then add more.
9. Cover the quills of the feathers with the sequined ribbon.
10. Dry overnight and add a little bit more feathers like I did. LOL!
11. Trim edges if you like. I kept mine simple and untrimmed.
12. Carry and style it!

DIY Peter Pan Collar Necklace

Peter Pan collars are here to stay! I've been curious enough to make some and finally I did and I enjoyed making them. I started learning them from watching various of videos in YouTube. So here I will relay the simple steps.

Disclaimer: I got the pattern from sheblogssheblogs.com and missglamorazzi's diy video. I like giving credit where its due. :)

1. I used a soft felt here so I pinned it and cut two pieces.

2. Glue both together and glue cut ribbon at back. Make sure you give a lot of room for the ribbon for tying a knot at back. :)

And that's pretty much it with my pink and blue collar for I will just design on top of it. :) I talked about the design on my video below.

Here are some pics of the pink one! :) Shirt by Willi Smith, geometric bracelet by Vanity & earrings from Wal-mart. :)

And for the blue one. Shirt by Liz Claiborne, nails by Sally Hansen Himalayan Blue.

And as usual, I will be posting OOTD pics in the following blogposts and other Peter Pan Collars I made. Ciao. Tell me how yours turned out.
