Grammy Blick: Christ Offended

As we strive to obey the commandments and reach the goals set forth by our Heavenly Father there are times when we may offend others.

These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? (John 6:59-61 KJV)

Jesus had spoken in the synagogue of eating his flesh and drinking his blood. Truly, that was a hard thing to hear from a man standing in front of a crowd. Not until His final Passover was it shown to be the bread and cup offered, and that we partake in remembrance of Him.

Then He spoke to His followers concerning the Holy Spirit quickening their response to God’s Word and to His will. As the scripture says, He knew from the beginning – just as stated in John 1:1. Yet, His followers were not only offended, they were divided:
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. (John 6:66-69 KJV)

For those of you active in churches today, you’ve seen people that have gone back, and walked no more with Him. It is saddening to see them do so. May God bless you for holding them up in prayers and continuing to witness to them.

For those of you not active in a church today, may God speak to your heart and may you accept the call to worship Him with those who share His gift of life to mankind. May you come to know Jesus as your personal Lord and savior.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6 KJV)

There are absolute truths – Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior, is one. To reject Him is to reject that truth. To believe Him is salvation.

And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:30-31 KJV)
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 KJV)
